A Response to Concerns about Fairway Center

The Recreation Centers of Sun City works tirelessly to keep the recreation centers private, yet unrestricted for the convenience of its Cardholders and their guests. The open design feature of the recreation centers are part of a historical significance that exists in Sun City at large; one in which we work to preserve as centers are redesigned or updated. The security of our properties, facilities and member’s safety are always on the forefront of our decision making. The design of the new Fairway Center was undertaken with just such consideration.

Currently, Fairway has a video surveillance system that monitors all entrances and second floor hallways, as well as the ramps leading to the fitness and pool areas. Several features of fairways design are foundational to the future integration of more technological security measures. One of these features is the east door. Once the budget provides for and the Board of Directors approves it, a card access system will be installed allowing Cardholder’s the convenience of entering the facility from that area by swiping their member card.

Bell Center is certainly one to be proud of. Bell features a wonderful separate space for clubs as well as the Sun City Visitor’s Center. That particular location features significantly more square footage than other centers. Fairway’s club area is housed on the east side of the building on both the first and second floors. Many club members welcome visitors to see their hard work, such as the Model Railway display, and while the RCSC’s centers are private facilities, cardholder’s do invite many guests.  Additionally, the RCSC leases rooms out, on occasion, to the general public; the revenues from this help to offset assessment costs for our members.

Security of RCSC property, as well as the property of the clubs housed inside Fairway, is a priority. The video surveillance system is monitored by those working the monitor’s station. These folks are aware of what is happening and react quickly when necessary. They have access to emergency numbers, phones and other communication methods in order to respond quickly to questionable activity. Further, the staff at Fairway is trained to be alert to unusual activity, and will not hesitate to inquire with a guest about their credentials for being on property if something seems remiss.

For the comfort and privacy of our Cardholders, the RCSC remains committed to unobtrusive monitoring of activities on its properties. We have rules and guidelines for using facility property and equipment in an effort to ensure proper use and lengthy enjoyment, for all cardholders and their guest’s.
