We have a saying here in Sun City AZ, “If you’re bored or alone, just blink and you’ll find something to do and someone to be with.”
Clubs & Activities
Located in one of the most desirable climates in America, Sun City AZ offers a vast number of special-interest clubs and activities for its residents. Del Webb Looked at the Future Differently
In 1960 Del Webb’s vision for a different type of retirement community was about to become a reality. And while many scoffed at his idea, the Del E. Webb Development Corporation (DEVCO) had five model homes, a recreation center, 9-hole golf course and a shopping center ready for the January 1st opening. Over 100,000 people toured Sun City AZ that weekend and, as they say, the rest is history. Those first to arrive soon realized social time spent with like-minded individuals was time well spent. Fun-filled groups quickly formed and the catchy advertising phrase from the early years – “Community of Active Living” – continues today in Sun City’s clubs and organizations.
