The Sun City Women’s Chorus (SCWC) was established in 1962, the first chartered musical club in Sun City. Our members have a wide array of musical backgrounds. We typically perform two concerts each year in the Sundial Auditorium and last year (2022) we joined the Sun City Concert Band for a Veterans Day concert at the Sun Bowl Amphitheater. Our mission is to bring joy to the West Valley communities through our music.
Our director, Velda Jensen, an accomplished musician who has conducted many groups including a 200-voice community chorus. In addition to our chorus, she also directs her church choir. Linda Shirck, our accompanist, is a gifted pianist, organist, and director. In addition to SCWC, she also accompanies The West Valley Singers and Sun City Players Community Theater productions.
Meeting Times: Thursdays 8:45 AM to 11:00 AM in the Fairway Music Room on the second floor (starting the first Thursday after Labor Day up to our Christmas Concert in December. Spring Session starts the first Thursday after New Years Day and last through our Spring Concert in April. We do not meet May through August but meet occasionally for lunch in the summer).
