We are in the beginning stages of adding online viewing/booking of tee times. We do not have a timetable for when the functionality will be available, preferring to identify as many potential issues as possible prior to releasing.
We will be hosting a meeting on Thursday, March 8, at Talisman Hall from 1 to 2:30pm, with representatives of informal Sun City based golf groups that choose to attend. We are asking for one (1) representative from each group to discuss days of play, time preferences and group sizes. This will be an information gathering session and information gathered will be used to determine feasibility of tee time reservation changes.
Free golf clinics will be offered March 3, 10, 17 and 24 at Lakes Golf Course and classes will begin at 9:30am. There is no need to preregister and the clinics are open to golfers of all skill levels. Get Golf Ready classes are also available in March, with classes beginning March 12th and March 14th. The cost of the class is $99 and includes four (4) instruction sessions and an on- course playing lesson.
A demo day has been scheduled for Riverview on March 5th, from 10am to 2pm. So far, Cleveland is the only confirmed attendee; we are hoping to add others as well.
Golf Courses
As planned the 103rd Avenue groundwater well that services Lakes East/West golf courses has been taken out of service for preventative maintenance. The casing of the well has been videotaped and has been brushed to open perforations. Eleven new sections of column pipe of been installed as well as a new oil delivery system. The pump and motor were not in need of repair. Work is expected to be completed and the well operational by February 24th.
Recorded rainfall for January and February 2011 was 1 inch, so far this year we have only recorded .03 inches. The average daily temperature for February is 4 degrees higher than 2011. As a result of higher temperatures and decreased rainfall, we are using additional water as dry spots appear on the greens and in the fairways.
Snack Shops
Total revenue for Snack Shops was $4500 ahead of prior year or 8%. Both golf and snack shops have benefitted from the warmer temperatures and lack of rainfall.
Please remember that outside food and beverage is not allowed in or around the Snack Shops. Alcohol not purchased in the Snack Shops/Pro Shops is prohibited in and around the snack shops by law. We thank you for your cooperation.
