FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Celebrate the season with neighbors, family and friends while helping a great community organization at the 9th Annual Sun City AZ Holiday Celebration on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:30pm at Lakeview Recreation Center.
The tradition of the Amazing Duck Race is guaranteed to have lots of fans and we expect Mrs. Duck to once again be joining in the festivities. There’s sure to be fun for everyone as the community joins together as participants stroll the pie walk or compete in the mini-golf hole-in-one contest. And of course, the traditional Lighted Boat Parade on Viewpoint Lake.
By popular demand, the Money Tree will be back on the patio at Lakeview – where your donations will decorate the lighted tree and the lucky winner takes home not only the Christmas tree – but all the money decorations, too!
Proceeds from the Sun City AZ Holiday Celebration will be donated to The Del Webb Sun Cities Historical Museum, which was chosen as the beneficiary of RCSC Management Team’s annual fund-raising efforts this year.
This annual celebration is our way of saying “thanks” to the community and provides an opportunity for our residents to give back to community organizations that do so much for all of us all year long!
The Amazing Duck Race is always a crowd pleaser at this annual event as rubber ducks “race” down the Lakeview waterfall and across the lagoon. There will once again be two duck races with the top three finishers of each race splitting 50% of the Duck Buck sales proceeds and the other half going to The Sun City Foundation. Of the percentage going to winners, first-place will win half, second-place 30% and third-place 20%. Tickets, affectionately known as Duck Bucks, can be purchased right now at the Cardholder Services Office (lower level at Lakeview), all facilities attendant (monitor) stations, bowling centers and golf course pro shops. Duck Bucks will also be sold the day of the celebration. Duck Bucks cost a buck each.
Ticket booths near the Lakeview Center’s mini-golf facility attendant station will open at 3:00p.m. so that everyone can have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the duck race, pie walk and hole-in-one contest. Win a pie for your own holiday celebrations by participating in the pie walk. Tickets are two for $1. Show off your putting skills to win some cash, while helping support the Museum by trying a shot at the mini-golf hole-in-one contest. Tickets for the hole-in-one contest will be one shot for $1 or six shots for $5. All participants vying in the hole-in-one contest must use putters provided.
We also are pleased to announce that Santa Claus himself will once again be available for photos so don’t forget to bring your camera or smartphone. You’ll no doubt treasure this special memento from this annual fun-for-all community event for years to come.
The Holiday Celebration will also feature gourmet food trucks for your dining pleasure and we’ll be serving cake and coffee or cocoa for only $1 on the patios adjacent to the Social Hall. The night concludes with the traditional Lighted Boat Parade on Viewpoint Lake which will begin at dusk.
Lakeview Center is located at 10626 W. Thunderbird Blvd. in Sun City.
Come celebrate the season with us at the 9th Annual Sun City Holiday Celebration. You’ll have lots of fun and help a great organization at the same time. When making your holiday plans, don’t forget to mark “December 8 at Lakeview” on your calendar. It promises to be a very merry time!
