The Strategic Alternatives Committee (SAC) held its sixth weekly meeting on Friday, June 2, 2023 at the SAC Lab (Oakmont Building B). The Oakmont Recreation Center is located at 10725 W Oakmont Avenue in Sun City.
Co-Chair John Fast presented a revised agenda (Syllabus) for the Overall period the SAC will be in operation (April – December, 2023).
Co-Chair Karen McAdam gave a presentation on both national and local trends regarding pickleball. The presentation contained an abundance of data points from recent nation-wide studies, as well as highlighting the impressive and accelerating growth of the sport across the nation among all age groups. Data also included our growth here at RCSC mirroring the steadily increasing trend lines as well as pointing out the relatively low availability of courts in Sun City compared with all other age-restricted communities in Arizona.
The second presentation was given by Tom Swenson, President of the RCSC Sun City Players Club. His report highlighted the number of groups and clubs other than just The Players Club who would be interested in utilizing the space provided by a Performing Arts Center.
Our next meeting will be Friday, June 9 at 2 pm at Oakmont SAC Lab. The topic will be Data Based Criteria/Process for Evaluating Alternatives and presented by all three (3) of the Co-Chairs. All documents regarding the SAC can be found on the home page of the RCSC, under the heading RCSC.
