Whether you are an experienced ceramist, or a curious beginner, we welcome you! We are a friendly and encouraging Club – and our motto is “We’re the FUN Club!” If you are new to the wonderful world of ceramics, we use a “Buddy System” to guide you through an orientation and completion of your first pieces.
We also offer classes in a wide variety of techniques, some of which include: clay-building enhancements, preparing green ware for decoration, underglazing details with brushes and/or pencils, using acrylic stains on bisque, glazing, overglazing techniques with gold and lusters, brush strokes, sgraffito, pattern transfer, using non-fired translucents, the use of stencils and stamping tools, and the proper application of decals. Special training for members interested in pouring and/or firing is also available.
Fairway Ceramics is a “full-service” Club, with a robust stock of supplies and green ware, both on display and available through special order. Firing is done on premises and is accomplished quickly. Members may also display their completed pieces for sale, on the Club premises and at special events sales.
Our Club actively participates in “Sun City Gives Back” by collecting and distributing much needed art supplies to local schools with a high percent of the student body meeting the poverty level. Throughout the year, we accept items such as glue, glitter, colored pens/pencils, crayons, yarn, buttons, card stock, brushes, paints, canvas blanks, index cards, and other items that could be used for crafting/art projects, as we deliver them regularly to the school’s art coordinator for distribution to classes most in need.
Membership Dues for Fairway Ceramics are $10/year (Jan-Dec) for individuals, and $15/year for couples (residing at the same address). Dues are half-price when joining after June 30. We are located on the second floor of the Fairway Center. Come by and say hello… we’d love to meet you!
