The Recreation Centers of Sun City Board of Directors and the Elections Committee is pleased to announce the names of the candidates running in this year’s board election:
- Darla Akins
- Barbara Brehm
- Michael Ege
These candidates are vying for the three 3-year positions on the RCSC Board of Directors. Positions being vacated are currently held by Board President Jerry DeLano and Director Stella VanNess along with Director Darla Akins who is completing the one remaining year of David Wieland’s term who resigned from the Board at the end of 2018.
Online voting begins on Monday, November 11, 2019 at 8am. RCSC Members are encouraged to sign up and use the RCSC Web Portal to cast their ballots. RCSC Members may also vote in-person on Election Day (Tuesday, December 10) from 8am to 4pm in the Lakeview Social Hall #2.
Absentee ballots for those unable to vote online or in-person can be obtained by contacting the RCSC Board Office at 623-561-4600 beginning November 11; the last day to request an absentee ballot be mailed is Tuesday, November 27. Members may pick-up absentee ballots up until Election Day but all ballots must be received no later than December 10.
RCSC Cardholders will have the opportunity to meet the candidates and hear their stance on the issues at two upcoming Candidate Forums: Monday, November 4 at 2pm in the Fairway Center Arizona Rooms 1-2 and Thursday, November 7 at 6pm in the Marinette Center Auditorium. Light refreshments will be served at both of these forums starting 30-minutes prior to start time and RCSC Cardholders are encouraged to attend.
Other opportunities to meet and speak with the candidates include at upcoming Board Meetings (on October 14, 31, November 11, 21 and December 9) as available and at the Sun City AZ Arts & Crafts Festival at Sundial on November 29-30.
Those elected to serve on the Board in this election will be sworn in at the Board Meeting on Thursday, December 19 at 9am in the Sundial Auditorium.
