General Centers Projects / Information
- Solar projects, which include thermal (Water heating) and PV (Electricity producing), are still going through the plan review process with Maricopa County Planning and Development Department. Solar contractors include Wilson Electric for the photovoltaic solar and Priceless Plumbing for thermal solar.
Mt. View Center
- Lighting will be installed late this summer around the Mt. View swimming pool and also in two areas within the mini-golf course. Induction type light fixtures installed on light poles will be used for this project. Contractor is Accel Electric. (Cost – $40,000)
Fairway Center / South Maintenance/ Quail Run/ Sunbowl
- Once special order materials arrive, automatic door openers will be installed on (2) doors at the Fairway Library. The two doors include the main library entrance and the unisex restroom. Contractor isAction Entrance. (Cost – $4,768)
- The RCSC continues to work with our architect and engineers to produce detailed drawings for the replacement of the South golf maintenance building. (Former building destroyed by fire) It has been decided that a metal building will be constructed for the South maintenance facility. At the present time, three bids have been received from metal building companies and Bunger Steel was selected as the steel building provider. This selection is important as Bunger Steel Inc. and CCBG Architectural must work together in the development of the final construction drawings. Once the final building plans are completed they will be submitted for permit and released for contractor bids prior to review and approval by the RCSC bid commission.
- Re-carpeting of the Quail Run proshop is planned for late summer 2012. In the meantime, some sample carpets were installed at the proshop entrance for testing purposes. More information will be shared later on this project.
- Planning and pre-permit work is underway for the replacement of the irrigation systems and turf at the Sunbowl ballpark and park area south of the ballfield. Irrigation design, and all civil engineering work, is nearing completion. The RCSC is hoping to submit this project for permit and also send it out for contractor bids by July 3, 2012. After bids are received the entire project will be submitted to the RCSC bid commission for final approval. Contractors currently assigned to this project include: CCBG Architectural, Marvin Mills Irrigation Consulting and Broderick Engineering.
Lakeview Center
- Both Lakeview Spas remain closed as they are being repaired and upgraded to meet current Maricopa County Environmental Services requirements. The project is currently 85% completed with interior spa work and painting remaining. Contractors are Aquatic Builders and the RCSC Skilled Trades Department. (Cost – $164,000)
- Repairs to the upper level concrete floor planks over the spa and pool equipment rooms is scheduled to be completed in June 2012. Contractors for this project include: Truesdell Corporation for the concrete plank repair work and Starling, Madison, Loftquist, Inc. for the structural inspections. (Estimated Cost – $11,226)
- The Lakeview lawn bowl greens will receive replacement metal halide light fixtures on top of the existing light poles. The new fixtures will reduce energy costs and supply better light for evening lawn bowling activities. Contractor is Wilson Electric. (Cost – $47,686)
- Once materials arrive, new vinyl flooring will be installed in the Lakeview social halls. The new floor will correct the current delaminating problem and greatly reduce maintenance costs. Contractor is Puckett’s Flooring. (Cost – $38,086)
Bell Center
- Architectural drawings for the Bell Wood and Metal shop expansion project are still being developed. Once completed, the drawings will be submitted to Maricopa Planning and Development for permit and also sent to construction companies for competitive bids. Once all bids are received the project will be forwarded to the RCSC bid commission for final approval.
- Planning and pre-permit work is underway for repairs to the Bell Lawn Bowling irrigation system and lawn bowl green backboards. Once preliminary work is completed the project will be submitted to Maricopa County Planning and Development for permit and sent out for construction bids. After bids are received the entire project will be submitted to the RCSC bid commission for approval.
- The Bell Library interior lighting retrofit/replacement project is now completed. Contractor for this project was Wilson Electric. (Cost – $64,646)
Sundial Center / Riverview Pro & Maintenance
- Planning work for the new back-stage and main-stage curtains for the Sundial auditorium is completed. The new draperies will be ordered as soon as the RCSC bid commission approves this project. Contractors will include S&K Theatrical for the draperies and Sonora Theatre for the removal/installation work. (Approximate Cost – $18,000)
- Two 15 Ton mechanical units (HVAC) over the Sundial auditorium will be replaced when new equipment arrives. Contractor is Custom Cooling. (Cost – $33,142)
- The defective septic system leach field at the Riverview maintenance facility was recently replaced. This required opening a small area of asphalt in the maintenance parking area, replacement of the leach lines and installing new gravel/fill dirt. Since the parking lot is due for resurfacing this year no asphalt patch was done at this time. Contractor was American Septic. (Cost – Permit & Septic Work $5,110)
- Planning is underway to replace (2) Riverview pro shop signs. One sign is by the entrance to the main parking lot and the other is across Del Webb Blvd by the #10 tee box. More information will be shared later regarding this project.
Marinette Center / WB-WC Pro Shop
- Spot repairs to the pool decking at Marinette Center are now completed. Contractor was Desert Rose. (Cost – $11,370)
- The WB/WC pro/snack shop parking lot will receive a rubberized overlay soon. The parking lot will also be cleaned and re-striped following the newly overlaid surface. Contractor is Pinnacle Paving. (Cost – $161, 803)
Skilled Trades Department
- The Skilled Trades department completed 192 work orders during the month of March 2012.
