RCSC Board no longer considering bylaw amendments

November 10, 2011 |

The RCSC Board of Directors revealed several weeks ago that they were considering bylaw amendments. These proposed amendments included considering all underage owners eligible for Member cards regardless if they were a spouse or not, providing free privilege cards as a part of the annual property assessment to spouses although they were not Sun City property owners, and providing, as a part of the annual property assessment, a free privilege card to those who have been issued lifetime use of a Sun City property although they were not legal owners of Sun City property either.

When these proposed Bylaw changes were put out for comment and response by Sun City residents, the RCSC received the largest response from Sun City residents than any other single issue in the past several years. Not all responses were against the changes, but overall the message was loud and clear, leave the bylaws alone. Respondents said the proposed changes just open up another set of problems, i.e. why does a spouse get a free privilege card but a son or daughter does not? Others said, if an underage owner (not a spouse)who no longer has a qualifying owner (55+ and occupies property) has to move out of the Sun City property due to the age overlay, then absolutely do not make this change. Many of the respondents felt that no free cards should be given out and no one under 55 should be allowed to vote, and believed that the only ones pushing the Board to make these changes are those few who benefit.

Although the Board is not unanimous on this decision, it has been decided by a majority of the RCSC Board that no action will be taken on these proposed bylaw changes at this time.
