General Centers Information

  • Solar installations for both thermal (water heating) and photo voltaic (electric) continue to progress. The thermal solar projects are now submitted to Maricopa County Planning and Development Department for permits and the photovoltaic solar is just about ready for permit submittals. Work on these projects will commence once Maricopa County Planning and Development issues the permits. Contractors are Wilson Electric for the photovoltaic solar and Global Renewable Energy and Priceless Plumbing for the thermal solar.

Fairway Center / South Maintenance

  • The west-facing sign for the Fairway building is under construction as our permit from the Maricopa County Planning and Development Department was finally approved. The sign is expected to be installed very soon. Contractor is Apollo Sign.(Estimated Cost: $9,000)
  • The RCSC is currently working with our architect to produce detailed drawings for the replacement of the South golf maintenance building. (Former building destroyed by fire.) Once the architect completes the detailed building plans they will be submitted for permit. At that time the project will also be released for contractor bidding prior to submitting the complete project to the RCSC bid commission for final approval.

Lakeview Center

  • Both Lakeview Spas are now closed and being repaired and upgraded to meet current Maricopa County Environmental Services requirements. The work includes the replacement of the interior finish with pebble sheen, installing new water line and step edge tile, replacement of drains, replacement of the filtration system, installation of an ADA pool lift on the West spa and replacement of the decking surface with an epoxy deck surface. Contractor is Aquatic Builders. (Cost – $164,000)
  • The Lakeview outdoor shuffleboard courts have now been resurfaced. Contractor was Rio Rico Construction. (Cost – $19,800)

Bell Center / Bell Lanes

  • Preliminary floor plan drawings are completed for the recently approved Bell Wood and Bell Metal shop expansion. The preliminary drawings were used by both clubs to design their shop space including stationary tool layouts, etc. A meeting was held on April 23, 2012 to discuss and confirm these shop layouts so detailed drawings can be completed by the RCSC architect. Once completed, the drawings will be submitted to Maricopa Planning and Development for permit and also sent to construction companies for competitive bids. Once the bids are received the project will be forwarded to the RCSC bid commission for final approval.
  • The Bell Lanes and Bell Social hall roofs are being repaired and recoated in preparation for solar panel installations. Contractor is Starkweather Roofing. (Cost $244,233)
  • Three more mansard roofs at Bell Center have now been replaced with standing seem metal material. The three roofs are all located on the 99th Avenue side of Bell Center. Contractor was Genco Roofing. (Cost – $18,000)
  • The Bell Library interior light fixtures are receiving either an upgrade or replacement. The can lighting is being converted to LED fixtures using the existing metal can outfitted with a full replacement insert. The fluorescent lighting is being replaced or upgraded to T-8 tubes with electronic ballasts. The new light fixtures will improve the light in all areas and also reduce RCSC’s energy costs. This project will commence as soon as materials and equipment is received from the suppliers. Contractor for this project is Wilson Electric. (Cost – $64,646)

Marinette Center / WB-WC Maintenance

  • Spot repairs to the pool decking at Marinette Center will occur soon. Contractor is Desert Rose. (Estimated Cost – $10,284)
  • The asphalt parking lot within the Willowcreek/Willowbrook maintenance facility was recently seal coated. Contractor was Sunland Asphalt. (Cost – $2,835)

Skilled Trades Department

  • The Skilled Trades department completed 162 work orders during the month of March 2012.

Clubs and Activities Department

  • The Easter Egg Hunt was a huge success again this year with 125 children attending.
