General Centers Projects and Information

  • The variances required to reduce the set back (from property line) of ten electronic signs has been approved by Maricopa County Board of Adjustment. As soon as permits are approved the signs will be constructed and installed with Fairway being the 2nc RCSC location to receive electronic signs. The entire project is expected to be completed in early 2015. Contractor is Bootz and Duke Signs. (PIF Cost – $782,103)

Mt. View Center

  •  The damaged stage flooring in the Mt View auditorium was replaced and the remaining floor sanded. All stage flooring was primed and coated. Contractor was Enmar Flooring. (Cost – $10,000)
  •  The auditorium backstage and main curtains have been replaced. Contractor was S&K Theatrical. (Cost – $24,194)

North Pro Shop

  • Block work has been completed for the North Pro Shop/Snack Shop patio, steel trusses are erected and the concrete patio slab is poured. Tie-in of the two roof lines (old to new building) will occur this week, rain permitting. The project is progressing very well at this time. Contractors are CCBG Architectural and Ken McIntyre Construction. (Cost – $167,505)

Lakeview Center / Viewpoint Lake

  • Planning and scheduling is underway for construction of the fish habitat for Viewpoint Lake this fall. If you have not signed up to help out with this very important project, please call the RCSC Administration office at (623) 561-4600 to add your name and contact information on the list. In addition, there have been delays in getting the threadfin shad (forage fish for bass, bluegill and catfish) due to a supplier inventory shortage. Once quantities are available, the shad will be delivered and introduced into Viewpoint Lake.
  •  A variance was approved by the Maricopa County Board of Adjustment to increase the wall height for the Duffeeland Dog Park to improve the separation of the park from adjacent homeowners. Once the permit for this project is approved, contractor proposals will be received and final approval will be requested from the RCSC Bid commission. Construction dates have not been determined at this time.

Sundial Center

  • New partitions have been installed between the auditorium and East/West Halls. Contractor was Hufcor Az, Inc. (Cost – $98,430)

Bell Center

  • Demolition is nearing completion on the Bell Tennis renovation with surveying and grading now underway. The #4 hole of the mini golf course is closed off and a path has been created for cardholders between hole #3 and hole #5 so the course can still be used by cardholders. Cardholders playing the course are asked to take par for the #4 hole. The tennis project includes demolition of the current (8) tennis courts and the installation of (10) new tennis courts. The new updated complex will also include a shaded gathering area, courtside canopies with benches, water and electric to each court, tables and benches for spectators and planters in the common areas. Contractors include Lloyd Sports Engineering as architect and project manager and Sunland Sports as building contractor. (PIF Cost – $1,778,074)

Marinette Center

  • The Marinette expansion and remodel project continues to progress nicely even with the short delay from recent storms. The floor for the fitness center, lobby and restroom hallway have been poured and the block wall to the North is nearing completion. The mason is now beginning to go vertical with the fitness center walls. Sun City Fire Department has now determined that the RCSC must install a fire hydrant, in the parking lot planters, west of the existing PB courts. The Marinette Center expansion and renovation project includes a 4,000 s.f. fitness center, rubberized outdoor walking track, a total of 20 Pickleball courts, an outdoor spa, thermal solar systems for pool water and shower water pre-heating, new doors, new windows and exterior stucco of all remaining buildings. Contractors to date include: CCBG Architectural, Robert Porter Construction and Aquatic Builders. (PIF Cost – $4,387,373)
  •  The Marinette clay club will be closed effective September 3, 2014 for renovations. The renovations include new sinks with clay traps, enlargement and re-organization of kiln room, new ceiling fans, clean up of some electrical, expansion into the former china paint room and some new shelving and cabinets.

Skilled Trades Department

  • The RCSC Skilled Trades department completed 152 work orders during the last half of July 2014 and the 1st half of August 2014.
