General Centers Projects / Information

  • The Photo Voltaic (PV-Electricity producing) projects are in the last stages of approval (permitting process) with Maricopa County Planning and Development Department. The two Bell thermal solar projects are about 80% completed with only the pumps and associated piping to be installed prior to testing. The Oakmont thermal project is also underway with the fencing being fabricated, equipment purchased and preparations for the ground mount panels underway. Solar contractors include Wilson Electric for the photovoltaic solar and Priceless Plumbing for thermal solar.
  • “Amazing Duck Race Bucks” are now on sale for $1 each. Duck races will be held at the Lakeview waterfall during the 2012 holiday celebration held Friday, December 14th. Duck buck proceeds will be split with 50% going to the Sun City Prides and 50% given out to winning ducks.
  • Since the RCSC has received so many cardholder requests to “own-a-duck” we have made ducks available for sale so you can “Pay-A-Buck” and “Own-A-Duck!” Ducks are available for purchase from cardholder services office, clubs office, facilities attendants, and bowling centers.

Mt. View Center

  • The Mt. View pool lighting project continues in the planning stage. The contractor is preparing project plans and obtaining photometric data so he can submit for the construction permit. The project includes induction type lighting around the swimming pool and two pole lights in the mini golf area. Contractor is Accel Electric. (Cost – $40,000)
  • Plans are underway to install induction type pole lights at the Mt View pickleball courts. Contractor is ATS Electrical. (Cost – $23,422)

South Maintenance

  • The building drawings for the new South Golf Maintenance building are completed and submitted for permit with Maricopa County Planning and Development. The drawings will also be sent out for contractor bids prior to review and approval by the RCSC bid commission. Contractors to date include Bunger Steel, Inc and CCBG Architectural.

Lakeview Center

  • The Lakeview lawn bowl greens will receive replacement metal halide light fixtures on top of the existing light poles as soon as the pole mounting hardware is received. The two electrical panel swap- outs and new electrical cabling work is now completed. The new light fixtures will supply additional light while keeping energy costs down. Contractor is Wilson Electric. (Cost – $55,880)

Bell Center

  • Architectural drawings for the Bell Wood and Metal shop expansion project are completed. Issuance of the building permit for this project is expected soon. The building plans have been sent out to (5) construction companies for competitive bids. After all bids are received, the project will be forwarded to the RCSC bid commission for final approval.
  • The RCSC recently experienced some crumbling conditions on the West parking lot at Bell Center. It was determined that the problem occurred from a brief rain storm which occurred during the installation of the rubberized overlay material in 2010. The contractor was contacted about the problem and on November 16th & 17th the problem area of the parking lot was seal coated and re-striped at no charge to RCSC. Contractor was Regional Paving.
  • Exterior surface preparations, of all buildings at Bell Center, commenced November 20, 2012. Once the preparation and cleaning work is completed all exterior building surfaces will be re-painted at Bell Center. Contractor is Quality Painting. (Cost – $86,971)

Sundial Center / Riverview Pro  

  • The two replacement signs for the Riverview golf course are nearing installation. One will be placed on the pro shop building and the other by the #10 tee box. Contractor is Apollo Signs. (Cost – $13,898)
  • The mall (breezeway) roof at Sundial is being repaired and recoated. Contractor is Starkweather Roofing Company. (Cost -$37,507)

Marinette Center

  • Plans are underway to install induction type pole lights on the four southern-most pickleball courts. Contractor is ATS Electrical. (Cost – $23,422)
