RCSC partnering with APS Peak Solutions for Energy Savings

June 30, 2011 |

The RCSC is participating with APS in an energy saving program called “APS Peak Solutions.” The program requires participants (RCSC) to voluntarily reduce electrical demand in response to grid emergencies or high energy prices. During demand response events, customers agree to reduce certain nonessential loads in exchange for financial compensation. To the RCSC, this means the reduction of energy used by our air-conditioning systems, by allowing a rise in temperature in all rooms included in the program.

APS will be conducting a test of the Demand Response system, which will require an electrical reduction of power and an increase in room temperatures at RCSC centers for a four-hour period, between the hours of noon and 8:00pm. The RCSC will receive a 2 hour advance notice prior to the power reduction, which is expected to occur on one of the following days:

Wednesday, July 6 – Thursday, July 7 – Wednesday, July 13 – Thursday, July 14

Once the RCSC receives the 2 hour notice from APS, we will immediately communicate the information to all centers, and provide e-mail notifications, in order to keep club officers and Cardholders informed about the upcoming event.

The following locations will not be affected by this program:

-Bell Center: Bell Lanes, La Petite Café, Bell Craft Rooms, Bell Library, Sun City Visitor Center and the Social Halls

-Lakeview Center: Lakeview Lanes, I.T. Server Room, Mojoe’s Café

-Fairway Center

-North Maintenance Yard

-Willow Maintenance Yard

The RCSC appreciates the opportunity to participate in this energy savings program, which benefits our community and helps off-set our electrical costs.
