Willowbrook renovation to begin May 6

April 22, 2013

Bunker renovation at Willowbrook Golf Course in Sun City is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 6 which will improve the playability of the bunkers when work is complete.

The project will begin with the closure of the back nine, leaving the front nine open for play.  Beginning in early June, the entire course will close for the duration of the project.  The reopening of the course will be determined at a later date, dependent on the pace of course recovery.

The renovation will follow the design in the master plan prepared by Gary Brawley of Tripp Davis and Associates.  The master plan was developed in 2010/2011 in conjunction with the Willowcreek renovation project. In addition to improved playability, ease of maintenance and easier accessibility into and out of the bunkers will also be addressed.  Bunkers will be moved, reshaped or removed to improve strategic value to the hole. National Turf Maintenance has been awarded the contract for the project.  The agreement also calls for leveling 12 tee boxes on the course.

Willowbrook Golf Course, located at 10600 N. Boswell Blvd. in Sun City, is owned and operated by the Recreation Centers of Sun City.
